Artist Long Thanh was born in 1951 in Nha Trang. He is well-known as member of the Vietnamese Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA), member of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) and member of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) cum Vice-chairman of the Photographic Club of Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa province.
He had a camera and made his first photograph at age 13. He has participated in international exhibitions 21 times in various countries in Europe, America and the Asian Pacific. Long Thanh won two gold medals at the International Photographic Salon in Japan in 1988 and 1995, and one silver medal at the International Photographic Competition in Holland (FIAP) in 1993. Also, he received the Award ACCU (Asian Cultural Center) in 1991 and ten different national awards including gold, silver and bronze medals and trophies that you can see in below list. Currently, Long Thanh works as an independent photographer. He is the only one person living on selling his own photographs. To say so, must understand his special kind of arts – black & white photographs – now has become a rare art genre in Vietnam as not many people follow this career. Long Thanh’s Gallery in Nha Trang is most visited by world-famous photographers who are seeking a comfortable place to talk, discuss or just share the joy or bad times of the job.
